Kielder is the largest man made lake in the UK and is situated approximately 30 minutes away from The Coach House. Perfect place for all the family to explore.  They have mountain biking, segways, birds of prey, water activities, the Gruffalo trail and much more.

Kielder Observatory

An astronomical observatory that runs public observation sessions under some of Europe’s darkest skies thanks to its Dark Skies Park status!

Cragside

Extra ordinary house, gardens and woodland- the wonder of its age. Visit the first house in the world to be lit by hydro-electricity. Cragside is a garden of breathtaking drama.  Armstrong constructed 5 lakes, one of Europe’s largest rock gardens, and planted over 7 million trees and shrubs.

Sycamore Gap

Voted Tree of the Year 2016 and Northumberland’s most photographed spot in the whole of the Northumberland National Park. Take a walk from Housesteads Crag to Sycamore Gao and see the highest remains of Hadrian’s Wall.

Hadrian’s Wall

Hadrian’s wall is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of England’s greatest landmarks.  The wall is not an isolated ruin.  The wall and surrounding area also includes milecastles, temples and Roman forts such as Housesteads, Vindolanda and Epiacum.
